About the show

An alternative musical from Matchstick, written by Joe Jamieson with music by Kirjava

Directed by Theo Cowan

Young singer Gabriela is rehearsing on stage when she is approached by her two besotted technicians…
Through theatre and music, All This is Folly explores infatuation and the desire to create.

This reworking of Matchstick’s show from last summer is at a new exciting fringe venue – the Montague Arms on the Queens Road, Peckham.

A word from the writer:

All This Is Folly was originally performed in August 2015 at the Winemakers Club in Farringdon. The script was largely developed through improvisation with the three actors, so the piece is as much their creation as it is mine. I’m very excited to have Theo Cowan direct these performances, and bring something fresh to the piece with his insights and sharp humour. I don’t know whether we’ve created an alternative musical or a play with original songs, but either way I hope the piece is in a sense a celebration of all the performing arts in a city where they are coming under pressure, and I hope each performance is a riotous evening for you all.
